The ACJC provides financial assistance to victims of crime who suffered physical injury, mental distress, or economic loss as a result of a crime. To be eligible for compensation, the crime must have been reported to law enforcement within 72 hours (3 days) of the incident and the claim for compensation must be filed within two years of the crime. Typical expenses covered by ACJC include medical expenses, mental health counseling, funeral/burial expenses, wage loss, crime scene cleanup, and some transportation costs. ACJC does not cover property loss or repair. To apply for compensation, victims should contact the Compensation Coordinator within the County Attorney’s Office where the crime occurred.
